The Bluffton boys soccer team scored four goals in the first seven minutes and cruised to a 7-0 victory over local rival Cory-Rawson in Div. III district semifinal play Wednesday evening, October 27, at Frost-Kalnow Stadium in Tiffin.

Nolan Hoffman and Jude Spallinger scored three goals apiece to pace the blowout.

With the win, the top-seeded Pirates improved their record to 14-3-2 and advanced to the district finals Saturday, October 30 at 11 a.m. in Tiffin.

Allison Diller scored two second half goals and the Bluffton girls soccer team blanked visiting Riverdale 2-0 in a tight Div. III district semifinal match Tuesday night, October 26, at Bluffton.

The Pirate girls improved to 14-3-1 with the victory. 

Third-seeded Bluffton advances to take on top-seeded Liberty-Benton in the district finals at Bluffton Saturday, Oct. 30 at 3 p.m. 

L-B (12-4-2) beat fourth seed Ashland Crestview 5-1 Tuesday night in the other district semi. 

On October 16, a Halloween-themed tournament capped the first season of a co-ed sand volleyball league offered by Bluffton Family Recreation in partnership with Southgate Lanes. Team Pac Man won best costume honors (and a $120 prize) and Team Dominoes won for tournament play (and a $500 first place prize). Northwest Ohio Water Doctor was the main sand volleyball sponsor for the 2021 season.

Bluffton senior hitter Kylie Stackhouse was named first team All-Northwest Conference in voting recently conducted by the league coaches.

Stackhouse led the Pirates in kills and blocks, and surpassed 1,000 kills for her career this season.

Pirate senior setter Skyler Scoles made second team all-league. She also passed the 1,000 barrier in assists this season.

Lincolnview senior Kendall Bollenbacher was named NWC Player of the Year.

JaNahn Evans was named NWC Coach of the Year by her peers after leading the Lancers to a third straight conference crown.

In voting conducted by the league coaches recently, three Pirate girls were named 1st team All-NWC in girls soccer:

Defending league Player of the Year Reagan Mittendorf was voted first team All-Northwest Conference.

Bluffton junior goalkeeper Julia Mehaffie and junior assist ace Allison Diller were also voted first team all-league.

Juniors Olivia Matthews and Samantha Scoles earned second team All-NWC honors.

A trio of Pirate juniors –Riley Eachus, Kendal Giesege and Makayla Schweingruber–were named honorable mention all-conference.

Jude Spallinger of unbeaten league champion Bluffton was voted Northwest Conference boys soccer Player of the Year in voting conducted recently by the league coaches.

Bluffton juniors Eden Antrim and Justin Good were named first team All-NWC alongside Spallinger.

Pirate juniors Ethan Oglesbee, Luke Shepherd and Nolan Huffman, as well as sophomore Nolan Hoffman, were named second team all-league.

Senior Bryan Zimmerman was named honorable mention all-league.
