Dan Luginbuhl, 1963 BHS grad, was a pioneer in motorsports marketing

Bluffton native Dan Luginbuhl, a career employee of Team Penske, was inducted into the Team Penske Hall of Fame on Sept. 9.

A 1963 Bluffton High School graduate, Luginbuhl joined the Penske organization in 1969. He was one of the pioneers of motorsports marketing and public relations. He was inducted along with Don Miller, a former Penske Racing South president. The event was at the team’s Mooresville, North Carolina, facility.

Luginbuhl's sister, Becky Cox, is a Bluffton resident.

Bluffton scored the last three goals in the final nine minutes to win

HARROD - The Bluffton girls soccer team rallied late to knock off local league rival Allen East 5-2 in Northwest Conference play Tuesday night.

Bluffton improved to 3-3-1 overall and 3-0 in the NWC with the comeback win. AE fell to 4-1 and 1-1 in the NWC after the defeat.

Junior Pirate ace Laykin Garmatter netted four goals, all in the second half, to pace the victors. She scored in the 53rd minute, then netted another goal 13 minutes later to put the Pirates ahead 2-1.

BLUFFTON - The host Bluffton boys soccer team shut out Lincolnview 9-0 in a Northwest Conference mismatch Tuesday evening.

With their fifth straight victory, the Pirates improved to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in the NWC. The Lancers fell to 1-6 and 0-3 in the NWC with the defeat.

Bluffton's Jonathan Schriner four goals in the first half, with three coming in the initial 10 minutes. He started the scoring in the seventh minute, then scored in the eighth minute, 10th minute and 36th minutes.

BLUFFTON - The Bluffton volleyball team swept visiting Delphos Jefferson in the Northwest Conference opener Tuesday night.

The Lady Pirates triumphed 25-21, 25-19, 25-13 to improve to 5-3 overall and 1-0 in league play. DJ fell to 2-7 and 0-1 in the NWC with the loss.

Kylie Stackhouse led the victors with 12 kills, four blocks and one ace. Taylor Schwab knocked down seven kills and served one ace. Libby Schaadt added five kills.

Joscelin Reineke added 14 digs while Skyler Scoles passed out 26 assists

BLUFFTON - Host Bluffton lost in four sets to non-league county foe Elida Monday evening.

The Lady Pirate spikers fell to 4-3 with the 25-16, 18-25, 25-18, 25-8 defeat.

Kylie Stackhouse led the Pirates with 14 kills. She also came up with 17 digs and two blocks.

Taylor Schwab and Libby Schaadt each contributed seven kills. Schwab also hustled up a team-high 20 digs and served one ace.

Joscelin Reineke added 14 digs while Skyler Scoles passed out 26 assists. Scoles and Cara Young contributed one ace apiece.

TIFFIN - The Bluffton boys cross country team finished 14th out of 33 teams in race four of the Tiffin Cross Country Carnival Saturday at Hedges-Boyer Park.

Freshman Erik Nygaard finished a strong eighth in a field of 216 runners with a time of 17:48.1 to pace the Pirate harriers.

Junior Elijah Conley came in 33rd in 18:50.4. Freshman Wyatt Lovell ended up 119th in 20:28.1. Freshman Sam Derstine finished 122nd in 20:33.7. Sophomore Trey Boblitt was the fifth Pirate scorer, coming in 149th with a time of 21:37.4.
