Dr. Perry Bush, professor of history, will present the Colloquium, "We Have them Whipped Here: Lynching and the Role of Law in Lima," on Friday, Sept. 8. During the presentation, Bush will tell the story of the last attempted lynching in the state of Ohio.

Emma Eickholt, Bluffton University senior psychology major from Ottoville, spent the summer volunteering at Lima Memorial Health System to learn more about careers in speech-language pathology.
“With this experience I got to see the good and the bad of a career in speech-language pathology. I got to see the hard parts along with the happy parts, and I took away the importance of speech pathology and the positive impact it can have on people’s lives,” said Eickholt.
BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University junior Isaac Zickafoose (Middlebury, Ind./Northridge) has been named the Heartland Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
The defensive end gave Wooster fits in the backfield, racking up nine total tackles with three TFL's. He got to the quarterback for two sacks and also forced a fumble in the 45-21 loss on Saturday.
The Beavers return to action at home against Trine University on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 1:30 p.m.
BLUFFTON, Ohio - Junior Bethany Martini (Pickerington, Ohio/North) has been named the Heartland Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her work over the weekend.
She was named to the Sommer Center Spiketacular All-Tournament team after leading the Beavers to a 3-1 mark against a competitive field. The junior outside hammered home 58 kills on a .221 hitting percentage for the weekend. Martini also ripped six service aces and was in on six blocks for the Beavers.
First-year students at Bluffton moved into campus on Friday, Aug. 25 and began classes on Monday, Aug. 28. Here are some pictures from Welcome Week.
Chanhee Hwang and Irena Xhari, two of Bluffton University’s international students, take part in Welcome Week traditions, the Bren-Dell slip-n-slide. The slide runs down the hill next to Bren-Dell Residence Hall and is a way for both new and returning students to meet each other and celebrate before the academic year begins.
