ANDERSON, Ind. - A big six-run second inning sparked the Bluffton University softball team to a 6-1 opening round victory over Manchester University at the HCAC Tournament in Anderson, Ind. Bluffton senior hurler Chloe Shell (Covington) threw six shutout innings in the victory. The Beavers improved to 26-14, while the Spartans dropped to 16-16.
Mike Edmiston to retire after 37 years as a faculty member
Bluffton University faculty members were recognized at the academic year-end Dean’s Reception for grants, sabbaticals and other development opportunities that they have been awarded.
The following faculty have received summer 2015 Bluffton University Research Center grants, which provide $3,000 and up to $600 for research-related expenses:
Bluffton University’s annual May Day ceremony is moving to a new time this year—1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 2—but its traditional elements remain the same, including the crowning of a king and queen and the Maypole dance by first-year students.
Filling those roles this year are seniors Jeremy Amstutz of Cassopolis, Mich., and Julia Thomas of Springfield, Ohio—the May Day king and queen—and 16 first-year students who will perform the Maypole dance.
