I-75 and US 30 work will affect local traffic patterns

Between Beaverdam and Lima

Ohio Department of Transportation issued the following work projects for next week that affect local traffic patterns.

Interstate 75 between the Stewart Road overpass and Napoleon Road, between the city of Lima and the village of Beaverdam, will be restricted to one lane in both directions for a pavement resurfacing project.

The project also includes repairs on the ramps at the Bluelick Road interchange and on the bridges over Sugar Creek.

Bluffton netters fall

The visiting Bluffton girls' tennis team lost to Wapakoneta 4-1 Wednesday evening. The loss dropped the Lady Pirate record to 3-4. Bluffton senior Erin Hotmire earned the only Pirate win at first singles. Hotmire's 6-3, 6-0 victory over junior Madison Snider raised her individual season record to 5-2. Wapak won three matches easily in straight sets, and secured another win by forfeit at third singles to take the match. Bluffton plays at the Lima City event Saturday at 11 a.m.

Kathy Dickson to address college goals in the context of the bigger picture of life

Bluffton resident and Bluffton University alumna Kathy Dickson, director of vocational discernment and community engagement at Methodist Theological School of Ohio, will speak at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3, in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall.

Dickson will share “Discernment on Purpose—Checking in on Your Best Life.”

Designed for sophomore, junior and senior Bluffton University students, this forum provides reflective and practical support for addressing college goals in the context of the bigger picture of life.

ONU English Department invites high school senior poems

Winner receives $16,000 toward college tuition

The English Department at Ohio Northern University invites submissions to the ONU Single Poem Broadside contest, according to Dr. Jennifer Moore, associate professor of English at ONU.

The contest is open to all current high school seniors. The deadline for submissions is Nov. 1, 2019, and the winner will be notified by Nov. 15.

This scholarship opportunity provides $16,000 toward a student tuition at Ohio Northern University.

Garden club goes on tour on Sept. 3 meeting

The Gardeners of the Bluffton Pandora Area will be going on a garden tour on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 6:30 p.m., at Nancy Mistovich's garden, 110 Polo Dr, Bluffton. This garden tour is part of the club's regular monthly meeting and the tour is open to the public. 

Mistovich is a Master Gardener Volunteer for Allen County.
