Delbert Hall worked for AT&T for 36 years

Was a Pandora-Gilboa school bus driver

Delbert Dwaine Hall, 86, died Saturday, March 14, 2020, at his residence. A native of Beaverdam, Mr. Hall was born on July 14, 1933, to the late Ernest and Edna (Williams) Hall. On October 25, 1955, he married Jeanne (Amstutz) Hall who preceded in death in 2017.

A 1951 graduate of Beaverdam High School, Mr. Hall served in Germany from 1953 - 1955 as an MP in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for AT&T for 36 years and was a member of the Pandora EMS. After retiring from AT&T he drove a school bus for the Pandora-Gilboa School System.

University education majors to serve as Bluffton Study Buddies

The Bluffton University education department is offering free online educational enrichment in response to K-12 school closures in Ohio.

Bluffton Study Buddies, Bluffton University education majors including student teachers, will provide academic help and educational games/activities through the Zoom videoconferencing platform beginning Wednesday, March 18.

University classes will continue via online/remote learning through April 12

Will close all residence halls by 5 p.m., Wednesday

Bluffton University released the following letter to students, faculty and staff.

Based on the increasing recommendations by Governor DeWine and today’s recommendation by The President of the United States to reduce group gatherings to 10 people or less, Bluffton University is taking the following actions:

All classes will continue to be held via online/remote learning methods through April 12.

Bluffton schools provides breakfast and lunches for students

Uncrustable, string cheese, strawberry cup, cucumbers with dip, chips, a cookie and milk – your choice white or chocolate.

That was Tuesday’s cafeteria grab and lunch for Bluffton school students.

Fifty pre-ordered school lunches were prepared for on Tuesday, the first day of the grab and go. 

“We prepared 100 lunches, just in case,” said Roseanne Garmatter of the school cafeteria.

Area hospitals advance local preparations for COVID-19 response

In partnership with Allen County Public Health

In an effort to alleviate growing pressures on Emergency Departments, Walk-In Care Centers, Urgent Cares and primary care offices, Lima Memorial and St. Rita’s, in partnership with Allen County Public Health, are advancing our local preparations for COVID-19.

Effective Tuesday, March 17 at 8 a.m., a Community Call Center and Designated Community Evaluation Centers will begin operations.
