We've barely scratched the surface

12 bears reported in Bluffton windows - please send us more addresses

The Bluffton Icon's bear hunt will post locations on Friday afternoon of the cuddly little guys perched in windows around town and in the countyside.

As of 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, viewers have reported addresses (and some photos) one dozen teddy bears. We plan to post the bears on a map for viewers to cruise town and discover these for themselves.

Daphne Johnston, Bluffton fifth grader in Mrs. Moser’s class, gets a little help from her dog, Henry. The Icon will post photos of students learning in an at-home setting. Request for public comments on 2023 Bluffton project

Proposed shared-use path along SR 103 in Hancock County portion of the village

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) invites public comments to a shared-used path along State Route 103 in the Hancock County portion of the Village of Bluffton. Construction is anticipated for 2023. The project has  previously been announced in several Bluffton council meetings.

Project summary
The village of Bluffton, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Transportation, is proposing to construct a shared-use path along state Route 103 (Jefferson Street) within the village of Bluffton.

It's Bluffton's elementary reading challenge

Attention Bluffton elementary students: Keep reading!

Bluffton elementary students are invited to participate in a voluntary “reading challenge,” according to Tim Closson, elementary principal. 

The challenge continues through the end of the school year. The school encourages reading of at least 20 minutes day.

He explains the challenge in the letter posted below this story. In addition, a reading challenge letter with additional details is also posted.

Bluffton school on break from Thursday through Monday

Bluffton schools posted several announcements today on Ohio Alerts. In addition, some announcements are posted on the school website. Those announcements follow:

• Spring break takes place from Thursday, April 9, through Monday, April 13.

• Kindergarten screening is postponed. Screening dates will be announced later. If you have not registered for Kindergarten, call 419-358-5901 or email [email protected] •

BHS yearbook seeks photos of students studying at home

Bluffton High School students are asked to send pictures of students doing their work at home during their quarantine to be included in the 2019-20 yearbook. 
• Email them to [email protected]

And, the Bluffton Icon invites high school students to also send photos to [email protected] for posting.
