Darian Greely rushes for 220 yards in Bluffton win

Beavers travel to Manchester on Saturday

 The Bluffton University football team played host to conference foe Anderson University in what was a cold and rainy afternoon on Saturday.

The Beaver defense came up big late in the game and stuffed a fourth down try by the Ravens that would help propel Bluffton to its first victory of the season, 24-17.

Bluffton improved to 1-6 overall and 1-3 in Heartland conference play while Anderson fell to 3-5 overall and 1-4 in the HCAC.

Youthful Pirate cross country team will return next fall

TIFFIN - The youthful Bluffton boys cross country team finished 22nd in the 23-team Div. III regional meet at Tiffin's Hedges-Boyer Park on a cool, wet Saturday morning.

New London won the boys team title with 68 points. Sandusky St. Mary's Central Catholic was second with 125 points, followed by Hopewell-Loudon (164) in third.

Holgate (192) came in fourth, followed by Minster (203), Ashland Crestview (204) and Liberty Center (209).

Trunk or treat event Thursday evening at English Lutheran

English Lutheran Church, 111 Grove St., Bluffton, invites Halloweeners to its trunk or treat event.

This takes place from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 31, during Bluffton's village trick-or-treat night.

Activities take place in the church parking lot. In the event of inclement weather, events takes place in the church Fellowship Hall.

Here’s the events on the Bluffton University calendar in November. Events are free and open to the public unless otherwise note.

Nov. 1-2 Fall Play: "Arsenic and Old Lace," 7:30 p.m., Ramseyer Auditorium, College Hall. Ticket purchases are available online at http://tickets.bluffton.edu or at the Marbeck Center information desk. For assistance with tickets, call the box office at 419-358-3239.

BHS Boys and Girls State reps tell their stories

Bluffton High School’s 2019 representatives to the American Legion Buckeye Boys and Girls State were recognized recently by the Bluffton American Legion Post, who sponsored their attendance in the programs.

Student participants told legion members about their experiences during the recognition.

Bearcats stymie Pirates 

Bluffton finishes season on the road Friday at Grove

SPENCERVILLE - The visiting Bluffton football team was blanked 35-0 at league co-leader Spencerville in a Northwest Conference blowout Friday night.

Coming off their first league loss, the angry Bearcats stormed to 21 first-period points and tallied 14 more in the second quarter to provide all the points on the night.

The rugged Spencerville defense limited Bluffton to just 49 total yards, while the Bearcat offense rolled up 381 yards. It was the first shutout of the season for both teams.
