Bluffton girl netters fall to Bryan

BLUFFTON - The Bluffton girls tennis team lost 5-0 to visiting Bryan Saturday. The defeat dropped the Lady Pirate record to 4-12 this season. Bryan won all 10 sets played in the match.

Erik Nygaard 12th in a field of 113 boys at cross country meet

Elijah Conley 39th 19:01.9; Sam Derstine 49th in 19:14.4

VAN WERT - The Bluffton cross country squads competed at the 16-team Van Wert Health Hospital Invitational hosted by Lincolnview Saturday.

Sophomore Erik Nygaard finished 12th in the field of 113 boys runners to pace the Pirates. He crossed the finish line in a time of 17:38.3.

Senior Elijah Conley ended up in 39th place in 19:01.9. Sophomore Sam Derstine came in 49th in 19:14.4.

Senior Brandon Good finished in 51st place with a time of 19:15.2. Sophomore Jonah Rehm was 70th in 20:03.9 as the fifth Pirate scorer.

The library announces the addition of its New Beanstack Challenges​, which will run from October through May​.

Julie Ann Bormuth 1965-2020

Julie Ann Bormuth, 55, died Sept. 24, 2020, at her residence. Julie was born Feb. 27, 1965, in Lima to Herbert and Dallice (Newman) Carpenter. On Dec. 26, 2007, she married Brad Bormuth.

Julie graduated from Columbus Grove High School and the Ohio State Beauty Academy. She was a receptionist at Reineke Ford in Lima.

Bill Montgomery was a 1953 Bluffton HS graduate

Was very active in McComb community organizations

William "Bill" Montgomery, died on Monday, Sept. 21, 2020, at Ohio State University Hospital. 

Bill was born in the family farm house in Orange Township outside Bluffton, to the late Ivan and Helen (Bell) Montgomery. He is a graduate of Bluffton High and upon graduation in 1953, Bill served two years in the U.S. Army at the end of the Korean War.  He was a member of the 86th Regiment's Crusader football team while serving in West Germany.
