8 freshman join softball team; experienced core returns to baseball team

The Bluffton University baseball team struggled with consistency in 2019, winning three straight games just one time, but with an experienced core of returners back the Beavers have a return to the Heartland Conference tournament in their sights. Despite injuries to key personnel that besieged the Beavers all season, Bluffton was just two victories away from its fifth 20-win season in school history.
Gov. Mike DeWine has ordered most spectators to be kept away from indoor sporting events

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced Tuesday afternoon that all indoor sporting events in Ohio, including high school, collegiate and professional sports, shall continue without most spectators in attendance as Ohio seeks to contain the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19.
“This will be a very difficult time for our schools and fans, but we cannot ignore the directive of the Governor,” OHSAA Executive Director Jerry Snodgrass said.
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Dr. Amy Action, Director of the Ohio Department of Health announced that there are three confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ohio, all in Cuyahoga County.
Governor DeWine also declared a State of Emergency, which he described as a necessary legal step that enables government to do what is necessary to respond quickly, and also makes it easier to procure needed supplies.
According to Allen County Health Commissioner Kathy Luhn, “This is what we have expected. We continue to work with our local and state partners to protect our community.”

NAPOLEON - Five members of the Bluffton wrestling team competed at the Div. III district meet in Napoleon Friday and Saturday. All five Pirate matmen won at least one match and advanced to the second day of the tournament.
Geometric shapes and art do mix. Just toss in a printed pattern behind the shapes and hang it on the wall. This is one of dozens of student art works on display in March at the Bluffton Public library. This piece is by Samantha Ruller, a Bluffton third grader.
