Camp Friedenswald director to share during Bluffton University Alumni Forum today

2007 Bluffton graduate Jenna Liechty Martin will share “Why Living My Best Life Depends on You: Camp as a Place of Interconnection and Joy,” at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, in Yoder Recital Hall. 

Martin is the executive director of Camp Friedenswald in Cassopolis, Mich. During Forum, Martin will discuss how serving at Camp Friedenswald has created an experience for her to form genuine community and connection, which is vital to living her best life. 

Lugibihl ag-business public auction Dec. 7

A public auction featured David Lugibihl’s agri-business equipment and personal items takes place at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, at 6705 Tom Fett Road, Bluffton. An inspection date is from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday, Dec. 2.

The auction includes a line of equipment, antique tractors and trucks, primitives/antiques, farm toys and shop tools and parts.

The auction will include two rings. A loader will be on site to help load items on the sale day. The auction is conducted by Schrader Auction of Columbia City, Ind.

43 degree temperature swing this past week

In the past seven days, temperatures ranged from a low of 6 degrees on Nov. 12 to a high of 49 degrees on Nov. 18, according to Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer. Additional weather information for the week is on chart above.

Riley Creek UMC Christmas carol sing Dec. 1

Riley Creek United Methodist Church invites the community to its 47th annual Christmas Carol Sing on Sunday, Dec. 1, at 7:30 p.m. 

Like an old-fashioned songfest around the piano, the program will feature congregational singing of many traditional carols, as well as readings from Scripture about Jesus’ birth, special performances by the Pandora United Methodist Church Choir, Ottawa Saints Peter and Paul Choir, other musicians, and a candle lighting ceremony.

Sharing weeklong experience at Yale Center for British Art

Dr. Cynthia Bandish will present the Colloquium “Finding the Empire at Yale” at 4 p.m., Nov. 22 in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall,

Bandish, professor of English, will share about her weeklong experience at the Yale Center for British Art where she participated in a seminar titled, “Art and Society in Britain, Hogarth to Turner (1730– 1851).” 

Bandish was among a select group of faculty members nationwide chosen by the Council of Independent Colleges to participate in the seminar, which was supported by the Samuel H. Kress Foundation.
