Reception for Goshen art professor Saturday

Bluffton University will host an artist reception for Merrill Krabill, chair of the art department at Goshen College, from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 12, in the Grace Albrecht Gallery.

Krabill’s work, “A Visual Reflection on Fear and Connection,” will be on display to the public through Oct. 18. His current body of work uses the metaphor of death and resurrection to explore life's pain and loss. The hope the work holds out is that the interconnectedness of all life is our way to move from loss to redemption.

Grants were awarded up to $40,000 to help schools purchase equipment to improve safety and security and reduce the potential for injuries.

Greg Denecker, Bluffton superintendent told the Icon that the funds will go toward installation of some cameras for safety purposes and key fob access to all the buildings.

“The key fob access system will allow us to open and lockdown the building in a quick, automated manner,” he said.
