Incoming Bluffton University student-athlete dies in vehicle accident

An incoming Bluffton University student-athletic was killed in a motor vehicle accident in Hamilton County on Aug. 6.

Here is the story from The Daily Advocate (Greenville):

WHITEWATER TOWNSHIP – Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Neil reports a fatal motor vehicle crash which occurred in the 8900 block of S.R. 128 (Hamilton Cleves Road) in Whitewater Township on August 6th, 2019 at 11:26 a.m.

Sign-up underway for adult volleyball, flag football and youth volleyball

Sign-up for several youth and adult programs is now underway at Bluffton Family Recreation, according to Daniel Tinch, executive director.

Adult coed volleyball
Sept. 5 to Oct. 10
Games played Thursdays from 7 to 10 p.m.
Registration: $150 per team

Grades 3 and 4 volleyball
Aug. 31 to Oct. 5
Practices Tuesdays, 4-5 p.m.
Games Saturdays, 10 a.m.
Members $30; non-members $60

Free school supplies distributed on Aug. 10

The Bluffton Ministerial Association and Bluffton Community Assistance Program will provide free school supplies to Bluffton school district children on the free and/or reduced lunch program again this year.

The distribution takes place from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Aug. 10, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 223 W. College Ave., Bluffton.

The sponsoring groups suggest to call the church to enroll your child at 419-358-5641.

BHS flag corps returns to the '80s

Will perform Momma Mia routine at county fair competition

It’s a retro year – meaning music from the ‘80s ­­– for the Bluffton High School flag corps, which began practicing this week for the upcoming performance season.

The young group includes five juniors, three sophomores and two freshmen. This year’s corps director is Jackie Bourassa. Captains are Elizabeth Bourassa and Bella Angel.
