Connie Kruse: "We are investing in Bluffton," Town and Country Flowers moves to North Main Street

Town and Country Flowers is moving - and will remain in Bluffton.

The Main Street flower shop, located for 10 ½ years at 121 S. Main St., is moving to the former Timeless Treasures location at 124 N. Main St. Timeless Treasures has relocated to 2794 County Road 313, north of Bluffton.

Connie Kruse of Town and Country says although moving has been underway all week “every flower order still goes on.”

Girls Scout summer series Aug. 8 to 12 at BFR

Girls in grades Kindergarten through sixth may participate in a Girl Scout Summer Series held at Bluffton Family Recreation, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton, from 9 to 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 8, through Friday, Aug. 12.

The series theme is “It’s Your Planet – Love It!” Activities include discovering what real scientists do, exploring wonders of science with hands-on activities and learning the scientific method.

It's flag football for 7-10-year-olds at BFR

Flag football for youth ages 7 to 10 takes place soon at Bluffton Family Recreation.

Games are Saturdays at 9 a.m. each week from Aug. 22 to Oct. 1. Registration is $55 before Aug. 12 and $65 after the 12th.

Phil Schey entertains PrimeTimers on Aug. 2

PrimeTimers will meet at noon, Tuesday, Aug. 2, at St. John Mennonite Church, Pandora.

 PrimeTimers is a non-denominational, community fellowship gathering for adults 55 and over hosted at St. John Mennonite Church in Pandora.  It is a ministry of St. John and the Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio.

This event will feature the music of Phil Schey.

The meal will include: fried chicken, hash brown casserole, scalloped corn, coleslaw, rolls, banana sour cream cake.

University's Terrill Webb wins academic honors

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on July 28, its academic awards for the 2015-16 NCAA DIII Track & Field season - including All-Academic and Scholar of the Year awards.

Junior All-American Terrill Webb (Kenton) is the first Bluffton University track and field athlete to earn this prestigious honor.

It comes on the heels of her being named the Heartland Conference Women's Athlete of the Year following All-American performances in indoor track and field and outdoor track and field during the 2015-16 school year.

Here's a Bluffton bridge you never crossed

That's right. You've never crossed this bridge.

At one time it crossed Riley Creek and based upon the era of this photo, the bridge was a fixture in the early 1900s. The photo is from a collection of Bluffton photos taken by pioneer photograher Will Triplett.

This photo might be near Foxes Hill south of Bluffton. Notice that someone is on bridge. Also notice the picket fence on the "bluff" if you can call it a bluff.
