Football: Pirates dominate on the ground against Allen East

The Bluffton High School offense only had to attempt five passes as they racked up 292 yards on the ground with four touchdowns as The Pirates beat Allen East 42-12.

The defense played a great game as well as Allen East was held to a mere 155 yards.

Noah Stratton started off the evening with back-to-back rushing touchdowns in the first quarter with 22-yard and 15-yard runs. Stratton led the Pirates with 106 yards on 16 carries.
Devin Luginbuhl ran one in from five yards out for the third score of the game in the second quarter.

Bluffton Mayor Dennis Gallant Oct. 11 chamber breakfast speaker

Dennis Gallant, Bluffton mayor, will provide a state of the village address during the Friday morning, Oct. 11, Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast.

The free breakfast is open to the public. Breakfast serving is from 7 to 7:30 a.m. and the meeting begins at 7:30 a.m. in the third floor of the town hall.

Gallant, who served on Bluffton council for several terms, became mayor in February when Eric Fulcomer resigned and accepted a new position in Illinois. Gallant, who was president of council, assumed the position of mayor at that time.

Attention pie bakers: Maple Crest invites you to enter its pie contest

Maple Crest Senior Living Community, Bluffton, hosts a fall pie-baking contest, according to Darin Lee of Maple Crest. The contest is Friday, Nov. 1. Persons interested in entering must register by Tuesday, Oct. 29.

Contestants may enter as many different pies as they wish. The contest has three categories: cream, fruit, and nut pies.
