Town and Country Flowers open house on Saturday

Be certain to visit the open house at Town and Country Flowers, 121 S. Main St., Bluffton, during Saturday's Bluffton Fall Festival.

Connie Kruse of Town and Country said that the shop will have a drawing for a fall silk wreath and will be serving fresh apple cider during the event.

School board action: Bluffton HS softball teams will play at village park this spring

Bluffton High School softball teams will play their 2014 games at the village park. The Bluffton school board approved the move during its Monday night meeting. The Bluffton council was informed of the request at an earlier meeting this month.

Several other actions took place at Monday’s school board meeting.

• Teri Steinmetz

Hannah Combs was approved as a student teacher with Sandy Karhoff from Aug. 26 to Dec. 11. Combs is a Bluffton University student.

Team spots still open for Sept. 28 Southgate-Chamber bowling scramble

Interested in having a Southgate Lane bowling league carry your business name this year? It's possible.

Southgate Lanes and Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to sponsor a Business Bowling Scramble on Saturday, Sept. 28, at the bowling alley, 9700 N. Dixie Highway, Bluffton.

“The event is a fundraiser for the chamber’s Main Street banner project,” said Derek Dukes of the bowling alley. “Ten four-person teams will compete in the evening scramble. Bowling begins at 5 p.m.”

Men's soccer: Beavers looking for first win

The Bluffton University men made the trip to Oberlin College for a special appearance under the lights on Monday, Sept. 23. The result did not favor the Beavers as the home team would pour it on (7-0) behind two goals apiece from Joe Graybeal and John Ingham.

Here's the real Bentley Road overpass photo

We were fooled about the location of the previous overpass photo. But, not this time. This is the Bentley Road overpass under construction south of Bluffton. There are several things to point out.

First, the southbound lane of I 75 appears to be still under construction. The orignal Route 25 bypass of Bluffton eventually became Interstate 75. The original bypass was two lanes - the northbound lane of I-75.
