Dear Santa: My favorite reindeer is Rudolph

We'll print your letter to Santa. Here's how it works: Drop off your letter in the special box in the Bluffton Post Office lobby. The post office delivers the letter to The Icon. We print it. We then give the letter to the elves at the Bluffton Senior Citizen Center. Please provide a clear mailing address, and you will receive a response from Santa.

Dear Santa:

Friends of Library provide $1,000 for new books

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY CHALLENGES THE COMMUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN $BUCKS FOR BOOKS$

The Friends of the Library wil donate $1,000 to the Bluffton Public Library to purchase new books this winter.

This will kick off the library's $Bucks for $Books campaign to offset the reduction in state funding to the library budget this coming year. The library hopes to raise $5,000 by the end of 2010. That is the approximate amount the budget for new books was cut. This early Christmas present from the Friends will jump start this fund raising drive.

Area seniors have several ILR class choices this winter

Bluffton University's Institute for Learning in Retirement (ILR), an educational program designed specifically for retired individuals, is offering six winter classes to continue its 19th year.

The classes, sponsored by Bluffton University and the Elderhostel Institute Network, will run Jan. 20 through Feb. 24.

The five-week winter term costs $50 and enables members to take as many of the one-and-a-half-hour courses as they wish, as well as participate in other ILR activities.

Did you live in Bluffton all of your life? When did you graduate from BHS? Did you go to Bluffton college or somewhere else? Did you and your sister go to the same place or deliberately separate at that point?

MJS 9

We're guessing MJS are initials of the driver. But, for the 8, we don't know the meaning. We'll tell you this much: the plate is on a Buick. Viewers please help us identify this owner.
