Damaging winds expected this evening and into the early morning hours

The National Weather Service provided a "severe storm warning" to the northwestern Ohio area at 2:45 p.m. on June 22.

The warming states damaging winds are likely from 8 p.m. to 3 p.m. tonight and into June 23. The service states that there is a significant chance of tornades south of U.S. Route 30 tonight. Damaging wind gusts are expected in a wide area.

The storm movement is from the northwest as it heads into Ohio. For a larger image of the storm map, open the attachment at the bottom of this story.

Still time to register your team for summer adult softball

There’s still time to sign up for this summer’s adult softball league, sponsored by Bluffton Family Recreation.

Games are played Monday or Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m. at the Bluffton village park. The cost per team is $300. League play is from July 11 to Aug. 17.

Persons may register on line at www.bfronline.com/register, or call BFR at 215 Snider Road, Bluffton, phone 419-358-4150.

Swiss Day June 26 - here's the schedule

The Swiss Community Historical Society will celebrate a prominent local farmer, entrepreneur and community servant at its annual June Swiss Day event, Sunday, June 26.

John U. Amstutz, who lived and worked in the late 19th and early 20th century, was a coffin-maker and undertaker for the local region.  

In addition, he provided a variety of community services from his property including a sorghum cane mill and press, a cider press, wood and metal-working shops, a clock shop and general store, a photography studio, and a weighing scale for produce loaded farm wagons.

It's only a "strawberry moon"

The first time in decades that a full moon ("Strawberry Moon") has appeared on the summer solstice as seen here Monday evening.

Ada is Model A Ford capital of Ohio on Thursday - 40 cars in town

FROM ADA ICON - Watch for an invasion of Model A Fords in Ada on Thursday.

Ada will be visited by nearly 40 Model A Fords, ranging in model year from 1928 to 1931.

They will be on exhibit in the Ada depot parking lot and are part of an all-day celebration.

In cooperation with the Buy Ada First and Ada Area Chamber of Commerce, several activities are planned to entertain the visiting Model A drivers. Some of these activities are open to the public.
