Police: Lock cars and homes - nightime break-ins reported

Bluffton police are urging residents to lock their car doors and residences as police report a recent increase in reported residential burglaries.

"We are encouraging everyone to make sure they lock their home, cars and garages," said Rick Skilliter, Bluffton police chief.

"We’ve had three reports in the past two weeks - two last night - of unknown subjects entering homes and or cars to steal purses," he said.

"These homes have been occupied during the burglaries. This is a particularly troubling situation since the suspects are entering occupied homes," he added.
