The cymbals are second nature to Debb Herr, who was one of several dozen Bluffton High School alumni band members performing in a pre-game on Friday at Harmon Field. The alumni band performs every-other-year. Mark Yoder took this photos and has several more on his Facebook.

Football: Beavers open season with 31-6 loss at Wooster

The Bluffton University football team opened up the 2019 season on the road against the College of Wooster.

It was the fourth meeting of all-time between the schools with Wooster now a perfect 4-0. The Beavers could not seem to find a groove offensively all game falling 31-6 to the Fighting Scots.

BLUFFTON - Visiting Pandora-Gilboa scored four unanswered touchdowns over the middle two quarters to register a 27-9 win over Bluffton at Harmon Field Friday night.

The Pirates fell to 1-1 with the loss, while P-G improved to 1-1 with the non-league win.

The Rockets rolled up 443 yards in offense to just 149 yards by Bluffton. P-G quarterback Silas Schmenk tossed three long touchdown passes and ran for another score to lead the Rockets to victory.

Clara Matthews tallied two goals to pace the victors

MT. BLANCHARD - The Bluffton girls soccer team won 3-1 at Riverdale Saturday evening.

The Lady Pirates improved to 3-2-1 with their third consecutive win.

Clara Matthews tallied two goals to pace the victors. She scored in the 14th minute to give Bluffton a 1-0 lead at halftime.

Reagan Mittendorf netted a penalty kick in the 54th minute to extend the Pirate lead to 2-0. Matthews then put the game out of reach with her second goal in the 68th minute, 3-0.

Boys' soccer: Bluffton wins fourth straight

Pirates improved to 6-1. Three of the last 4 wins came via shutouts as BHS outscored opposition 20-1

BLUFFTON - Host Bluffton whitewashed visiting Bath 2-0 in non-league boys soccer action Saturday afternoon.

The Pirates improved to 6-1 with their fourth straight victory. Three of those wins came via shutouts as Bluffton has outscored its opposition 20-1 during that span.

The game was scoreless at halftime, but Andrew Lovett tallied two minutes into the second half to give Bluffton a 1-0 lead.

Pirate Jonathan Schriner netted an insurance goal in the 65th minute to provide the final margin of victory.
