BCE annual meeting Friday morning

On Nov.13 the Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs board will hold an annual meeting in conjunction with the November Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce member meeting.

The 7:30-8:30 a.m. online meeting will provide an update on services provided and new opportunities being developed by the BCE for the entrepreneurs of Allen, Hancock, Hardin, and Putnam counties.

Meet the October BHS student of the month

Julia Smallcombe hopes to attend Miami University next year

Julia Smallcombe, a Bluffton High School senior, is the BHS October student of the month.

She is a member of Student Senate, National Honor Society, Show Choir, Latin Club, Math Club, Renaissance and yearbook. She is an Ohio Teen Ambassador and a Miami Bridges member. 

She is also on the school's tennis and track teams and the Bluffton swim team. She has been on the all-A honor roll throughout high school, and has received top of the class awards in Personal Wellness, Principles of Food, Geography and Model United Nations.

Steve Smucker will coach NW Ohio senior soccer team on Sunday

Simon Derstine and Jonathan Schriner also selected to play in the match

A Bluffton soccer coach and two BHS senior boys will participate in the Northwest Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association annual senior all-district game on Saturday.

Steve Smucker, Bluffton varsity coach, is among three other coaches who will coach teams in the match. He joins coaches Eric Burns of Defiance, and Kirk Brazeau and Greg McElroy of Toledo St. John’s Jesuit for the event.

Two Bluffton seniors, Simon Derstine and Jonathan Schriner were selected to play in the match involving players from 26 teams.

Your invitation to join a driving tour Saturday morning

Western Buckeye Region of Vintage Chevrolet Club of American tour starts in Bluffton

The Western Buckeye Region of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America plans its sixth and final driving tour of the year on Saturday, Nov. 14, according to Dan Groman, director of the local chapter.

“Anyone interested in joining the tour is welcome to meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Bluffton swimming pool parking lot,” he said.

At 8:45 a.m. vehicle owners will head down Main Street and turn onto State Route 103 toward Upper Sandusky where the group will travel to the Wyandotte Indian Mill and Historical Society in Upper Sandusky.
