Volunteer opportunities at MHCO

Here's a list of summer events and activities where you can help

Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio has several volunteer opportunities in Bluffton and Pandora this summer, according to Jessica Strahm, volunteer coordinator.

Free outdoor gospel concert, with chicken BBQ, at County Line Church on July 13

County Line Church of the Brethren is hosting a Freedom Fest on Saturday, July 13, from noon to 6 p.m., including a chicken barbecue and free music.

Bring your own seating for this free outdoor gospel concert, geared towards the whole family, including a free bouncy house to keep children entertained. 

The concert will be behind the church, located at 4227 N Hardin Road, (Hancock County Road 15 from Bluffton), Harrod.

ONU free mobile clinic in Bluffton June 28 

The Ohio Northern University free mobile health clinic will be at the Bluffton Public Library from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Friday, June 28.

The clinic offers:
• free screenings for blood pressure
• blood glucose
• lipids (please fast for 12 hours prior to your arrive at the clinic) 

Participants may speak with Healthwise students and staff about their results or concerns.

Local students on Bluffton University spring dean’s list

Bluffton University has announced the dean’s list for undergraduate students for the spring 2019 term. Students with a GPA of 3.6 or higher are eligible for the dean’s list.

Next Gardeners club meeting at community gardens on July 2

The next Gardeners of the Bluffton Pandora Area meeting is Tuesday, July 2, at 6:30 p.m., outdoors at the community garden. This is located on Main Street (North Dixie Highway), just passed the village sign. 

Betsy DeFrancesco will be speaking on propagating perennials by cuttings of leaves, stems and roots. This is useful when your perennials have become overgrown or you wish to share some of your plants with family or friends.

Please note, you will want to bring a folding chair or something to sit on for this meeting.

Lions scholarship winners

Bluffton Lions recognized six graduating high school seniors recently as their scholarship winners. This year's winners include Amanda Speicher, Madeline Burghaze and Kaitlyn Prater of Bluffton HS; Sarah Schutz and Peyton Traxler of Pandora-Gilboa HS; and Annalyse Dissinger, home schooler from Cory-Rawson school district.
