Roots by Strattons opens in former Et Cetera storefront

Bluffton has a new downtown retail shop, and it opened just in time for the holidays.

Roots by Strattons, a satellite of Stratton Greenhouses, opened this week in the former Et Cetera Shop, 111 S. Main St.

Susie Stratton, says, “It’s a dream come true. For several years we’ve wanted to open a storefront on Main Street.”

Residents with a very long memory can recall Susie’s “Plants and Things,” storefront on Main Street from 1977 to 1979. So, in a way, it’s a return downtown.

Book ReViews undergoing some changes

...and it will be open for the Blaze of Lights

Keep your reading glasses focused on Book ReViews, Bluffton’s used book store.

The store at 123 S. Main St., is undergoing some changes, and it will be reopened  for the Saturday Blaze of Lights.

Peggy Brown, manager of Ten Thousand Villages, 115 S. Main St., and Book ReViews said, “We are in the process of reorganizing the shop and creating a new process to rotate the books.”

Here are some sneak peek looks inside the store as it prepares for a reopening. And be certain to check out the "book fireplace wiindow display."

The Bluffton University women's basketball team welcomed Heidelberg University to Copeland Court on Nov. 26. Bluffton held off The Student Princes for a 70-65 victory.

Child Development Center holiday project

Collecting care package items for deployed service men and women; drop off items by Dec. 3

LIST OF SUGGESTED ITEMS TO DONATE IS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS STORY -

For the sixth year, Bluffton Child Development Center will participate in the Blaze of Lights parade and invites public participation.

"This holiday season, we will be collecting items to send care packages for the deployed men and women overseas," said Francine Donathan, Center director.

"We will be walking through the parade with shopping carts to collect donations. Items can also be dropped off at 325 County Line Road, Bluffton, Ohio 45817 by Tuesday, Dec. 3," she said.
