Gardeners program on beautiful bees and butterflies Aug. 6

The Gardeners of the Bluffton Pandora Area will hold its next meeting at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 6, in the Community Gardens on South Main Street, Bluffton.

Tim Brugeman, Hancock County Master Gardener, will discuss monarchs and other pollinators. The meeting is open to the public. Consider bringing a chair.

Bluffton police chief Lions speaker on Aug. 20

Bluffton Lions will hear from Ryan Burkholder, Bluffton police chief during its noon, Tuesday, Aug. 20, meeting in the Bluffton town hall.

The club has several activities planned in August. The club newsletter shares much of that information. It is attached below.

Free school supplies distributed on Aug. 10

Call St. John's UCC to register your child

The Bluffton Ministerial Association and Bluffton Community Assistance Program will provide free school supplies to Bluffton school district children on the free and/or reduced lunch program again this year.

The distribution takes place from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Aug. 10, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 223 W. College Ave., Bluffton.

The sponsoring groups suggest to call the church to enroll your child at 419-358-5641.

Eileen Kehler was a foster parent to 29 children

Service and visitation Aug. 10 at First Mennonite

Eileen June Kehler, 86, died July 31, 2019, at Willow Ridge - Betty House in Bluffton.  Eileen was born June 12, 1933, in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, to the late Menno and Katie (Rosenberger) Myers. On April 7, 1956, she married Cornelius "Neil" Kehler who survives.

Eileen graduated from Quakertown High School in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, and received her bachelor's degree in business administration from Bluffton College.  She worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for First Mennonite Church in Bluffton for many years where she was an active member.

OHSAA fall sports practices get underway Thursday

New inclement weather policy now in effect

Preseason practices officially begin this Thursday, Aug. 1, for OHSAA member schools for the fall sports of football, girls and boys golf, girls tennis, girls volleyball, boys and girls soccer, boys and girls cross country and girls field hockey.
