It features the 2020 Bluffton High School seniors - before and now

Here's a great video you may want to watch more than once. It's the 2020 Bluffton High School senior graduation slide show. 

The presentation, produced by 2020 class members Xavier Dunifon and Jimmy O'Donnell, is a 20-minute show, which includes photos of grads today and as youngsters.

The video ends with a brief dialogue between Xavier and Jimmy, plus several photos that tell the story of class of 2020. The video is also on the Bluffton school website, or may be viewed by clicking the link below.

Parks and rec committee meets via Zoom at 6 p.m.

Bluffton parks and recreation committee will meet at 6 p.m., tonight (Tuesday, May 26),  using Zoom video conferencing. Those interested in attending should contact Jesse Blackburn at [email protected] to request an invitation.

Library board meets via video conferencing today

The Bluffton Public Library Board of Trustees will hold their regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, via video conferencing.  To request an invitation for the meeting, please contact Jessica Hermiller, Director, at [email protected].

"Taps Across America"

Bluffton 9th grader Hannah Davis and BHS band member, plays "Taps" during a "Taps Across America" performance on Memorial Day. She received a text from BHS band director, David Sycks, that trumpet players across the U.S. were to play taps at 3 p.m. from their front porch to honor those servicemen and women on Memorial Day since parades and services were cancelled due to the virus.

Today's BHS seniors in the spotlight

Here's today's installment of the Bluffton High School Class of 2020 Senior Spotlight. Each weekday until the end of May the Icon will feature photos and future plans for four BHS seniors.  Students will be featured in a four-set random order.

Here is a group of young women in Bluffton taken in 1906.

From left, Hulda Schaublin, Clara Wilson, Verba Ronston Ulch, Ora Kimmel, Elvina Hover, Florence Wilson Hilty, Bessie Bonnell and Blanche Williams Triplett.

The identification are thanks to someone taking the time to write the names on the back of the photo.

Some of the local relationships in this photo include Florence Wilson Hilty (sixth from left). She is the paternal great-grandmother of Cara Young Davies and Brandt Young.
