"Getting your house in order" free workshop Jan. 15

Three Bluffton business professionals address basic questions

Three Bluffton business professionals will offer a free “Getting Your House In Order” workshop this month.

Faith Investment Services, partnering with Scott Basinger, attorney at law, and Neil Reichenbach, CPA, present workshops addressing basic questions about retirement, insurance coverage, taxes and similar subjects.

The workshop is at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 15, in the front portion of Faith Investment Services building, 101 N. Main St., Bluffton.

Beavers stop Transy 87-78

The Bluffton University men's basketball team played host to Transylvania University in a Heartland Conference tilt on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020. After dropping their last contest before the new year, the Beavers were looking to get back in the win column and they did just that. Bluffton downed the Pioneers 87-78 in what was a very physical matchup between the HCAC rivals.

Beavers fall to 8-3 with recent loss

The Bluffton University women's basketball team welcomed #15 Transylvania University to Copeland Court on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020. The Beavers dropped a 67-47 decision to the Pioneers. Bluffton dipped to 8-3 (2-2 HCAC) while Transy improved to 10-1 (4-0 HCAC).

BFR's next school break camp is Jan. 20

Daddy-daughter dance set for Feb. 22

Several program of interest take place soon at Bluffton Family Recreation, according to Daniel Tinch, executive director.

A school break camp for youth ages 5 to 12 takes place on Monday, Jan. 20, Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The next school break camp is Monday, Feb. 17, Presidents’ Day.

BFR and Bluffton University women’s soccer team host a day camp for players U8 to high school on Monday, Jan. 20, from 1 to 4 p.m. Players will work to develop individual and team skills.

2019: A year of many business changes in Bluffton

Several businesses relocated; many celebrated anniversaries

Bluffton experienced many business changes in 2019. The following is a monthly review of business changes in the community over the past year as reported in the Icon.

Gulf Coast Accounting moved from 141 N. Main St. to the rear of 103 N. Main St, following the purchase of the 103 N. Main St. building by Bill and Chris Gable of Lone Palm Real Estate, LLC.

Dick Badertscher was a 1962 Cory-Rawson HS graduate

Rawson native Dick Badertscher, 74, of Grangeville, Idaho, died, Dec. 18, 2019,
due to complications of a stroke.

Dick was born in Findlay on Dec. 25, 1944, to Lyle and Geraldine Badertscher. He graduated from Cory-Rawson High School in 1962.  

He married Diane Amstutz on Oct. 28, 1967. Dick was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
