Jaye Bumbaugh was retired Bluffton University art chair

Was on the university art faculty for 37 years

Retired Bluffton University art professor Jaye Bumbaugh of Lima, died Friday, July 25, 2020, at The Kobacker House in Columbus. 

Jaye was born July 30, 1937, to Glenn and Grace (Thorpe) Bumbaugh in Lorain, Ohio. He graduated from Ohio Northern University in 1959. 

Jaye taught junior high and senior high school classes at Midview Schools,  Grafton, and then in the Bluffton schools.

MHCO has volunteer opportunity to assist with publishing project

Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio has a volunteer opportunity for someone with manuscript publishing skills.

Joanne Niswander, friend and resident of Maple Crest, has completed a historical document including pictures of “How MHCO Came To Be.”

MHCO intends to take this manuscript into an eBook and print format. The manuscript is 120 pages and photos are already in place.

"We are looking for a volunteer with skills to finalize document structure using text-editing skills and online software such as Vellum," said Chris Moser of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio.

Gaslighter is the eighth studio album by American country music group The Chicks. It was released on July 17, 2020, by Columbia Records. It is the first work issued by the group since their name change from the Dixie Chicks.

OHSAA indefinitely suspends August scrimmages

 Gov. Mike DeWine’s Tuesday coronavirus briefing brought no update on the status of high school sports this fall, but the Ohio High School Athletic Association sent a memo later in the day to administrators alerting them of one change.

Scrimmages for football and other contact sports are suspended until further notice.

St. Mary's Catholic youth selling concessions at the pool

St. Mary's Catholic Youth will sell concessions at the Bluffton Pool to raise money for CYSC Summer Camp for 2021.

Concessions will be sold from 2-5 p.m. on: 
Friday, July 31 
Saturday, August 1
Wednesday, August 5 
Friday, August 7 
Wednesday, August 12
Friday, August 14.

100% of the proceeds will go to tuition for summer camp next year.
