Men's bball: Beaver's lose close one in Illinois

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Bluffton University men's basketball team was the victim of a late-game run and fell to the Illinois College Blueboys, 87-82, on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013. The home team was able to close the game on a 6-0 spurt to earn the victory over the Beavers, who fell to 1-1 on the season.

This year's 27th annual Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce's Blaze of Lights is Saturday, Nov. 30, in downtown Bluffton. While many traditional events are planned, so are first-time additions to the Blaze.

Bluffton native, Sarah Diller, among this year's "Messiah" soloists

Sarah Diller, a Bluffton native and a 2011 Bluffton University graduate, leads the list of soloists for the university’s 118th performance of Handel’s “Messiah,” at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, in Founders Hall.

Joining Diller, a soprano, are fellow soloists Sandra Agans Krueger, alto; Jon Jurgens, tenor; and Timothy J. Bruno, bass. Conducting the performance is Dr. Mark J. Suderman, a professor of music and director of choral activities at Bluffton.

How can Christmas be around the corner when the Citizens National Bank time and temperature reads 56 degrees? Members of the Bluffton fire department were happy with the temperatures, as they hung downtown Christmas garland in the warm weather on Saturday. Oh, they hung 1,604 lineal feet of garland.

Santa coming to Richland Manor Nov. 21

Santa is coming to Richland Manor.

Santa invites the community to Richland Manor at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 21. You may have your photo taken with Santa, there are Christmas treats available and you may drop off a letter to Santa at the event.

Richland Manor is at 7400 Swaney Road, Bluffton.
