2019 weather in a word: Rain

Over 23 inches of rain fell from early April to late July

How will 2019 be remembered weather-wise?

In one word: Rain.

From April 1 to July 31 the Pandora-Bluffton area experienced 23.83 inches of rain. Those four months accounted for more than one-half of the entire year’s rainfall, which reached 44.23 inches. 

The 2019 rainfall was the highest recorded in the area since 54.86 inches fell in 2011.

The 23.83 inches of rain during that four-month period compares to a normal average of 15.43 inches during that same period.

Library board reorganization meeting Jan. 7

The board of trustees of Bluffton Public Library will hold its annual organizational meeting at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 7.  The purpose of the meeting is to elect officers, set the 2020 meeting schedule and approve temporary authorizations for 2020.

Lady Pirates entertain Elida Saturday afternoon

BLUFFTON - Host Bluffton defeated non-conference foe Kenton convincingly 50-35 in girls basketball play Thursday evening.

Bluffton led 29-23 at halftime and outscored the Lady Wildcats 14-7 in the third period to build a 13-point lead. The Lady Pirates held Kenton to just 12 second-half points to win going away.

The Pirate girls improved to 9-1 overall with their ninth consecutive victory. Meanwhile, Kenton fell to 3-4 with the defeat.

Different downtown view

Looks like Bluffton, but it's not. Similar streetscape, street lights and storefronts. Here's a downtown Ada view photographed through a Christmas wreath at the Ada First United Methodist Church. Like Bluffton, Christmas lights and decorations are slowing coming down in anticipation of the next holiday, honoring St. Valentine.
