School board acts to approve 2016 grads on Monday

Bluffton school board will act on approving the graduates of the class of 2016 on Monday evening during the regular May board meeting.

The list is an attachment to this story, as is the Monday agenda.

BHS teams finish second

Both Bluffton High School girls' and boys' track and field teams finished in second place at this year's Northwest Conference track meet in Ada. (Monty Siekerman photo)

Pirate boys' and girls' track teams both runner-up in NWC meet

Bluffton High School boys’ and girls’ track teams both finished runner-up in the Northwest Conference meet in Ada on May 14. Columbus Grove won both boys’ and girls’ titles.

BHS junior Trevor Bassitt was named male athlete of the year.

Marley Runk BHS student of the month

The April student of the month at Bluffton High School is Marley Runk, daughter of Tim and Megan Runk. Marley is a junior at Bluffton with a 4.000 gpa. She is involved in Drama club, Latin Club, National Honor Society, Show Choir, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir and is on the yearbook staff.

Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) was recently recognized at the Gold Level by The Partnership for Excellence (TPE), Ohio, West Virginia and Indiana’s Performance Excellence Program.

Dean Dearth was retired from Anderson Tractor

Dean D. Dearth, age 83, died on May 13, 2016 at 11:50 PM at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima. 

He was born on May 17, 1932, in Orange Township, Hancock County, Ohio, the house he lived in, to J. Kenneth and Mabel L. (Montgomery) Dearth who preceded him in death.   On Aug. 26, 1950, he married Sarah B. Willeke and she survives in Ada.
