Community VBS moves to June

"Who is My Neighbor?" this year's theme

This year's community Vacation Bible School moves to June. First Mennonite Church is the host congregation and the VBS dates are Sunday to Thursday, June 7-11.

This year's theme is "Who Is My Neighbor." Co-organizers from First Mennonite are Amber Shelly and Carrie Mast.

3 Lady Pirates earn All-NWC hoops honors

Two Bluffton girls received All-Northwest Conference girls basketball second team honors from league coaches in voting conducted at their annual selection meeting last Monday night.

Senior post Libby Schaadt and junior guard Laykin Garmatter were both voted second team All-NWC. Schaadt led the team in scoring and rebounds. Garmatter topped Bluffton in three-point goals and was the top vote-getter on the five-player second team.

Scrappy Pirate senior guard Kayla White also was voted honorable mention all-league.

Free community meal at Pandora UMC on Feb. 26

The Pandora United Methodist Church will be hosting a free community meal on Wednesday, Feb. 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. The church is located at 108 E. Washington Street, Pandora. 

The meal is provided by Hilty Memorial Home. The menu is fried chicken, buttered parsley potatoes, California blend vegetables, cupcakes and beverages.

Cleveland Brassworks coming to Bluffton University

Tickets are available for the Thursday, March 12, performance by professional brass quintet at 7 p.m. in Bluffton University’s Yoder Recital Hall. The group has performed at venues including concert halls, music festivals and corporate events, and provides a unique approach to a brass quintet concert.

Pirate boys down Jefferson behind huge 1st period

BHS improved to 18-4; finished 6-2 in NWC

DELPHOS - Visiting Bluffton raced to a big early lead and went on to defeat Delphos Jefferson 69-57 in the Northwest Conference boys basketball regular season finale Friday night.

The Pirates led 27-13 after the first period as senior Mason Soper poured in 14 points. Bluffton held a 37-25 edge at halftime. 

Jefferson edged within 53-47 after a 22-16 third period as Wildcat Ian Wannemacher netted 10 points in the quarter.
