Justin Haggard on Mt. Vernon dean’s list

Justin Haggard has been named to the dean’s list for the 2019 spring semester at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. The dean’s list includes all students who carried a minimum of 12 credit hours and have maintained a grade point average of 3.5 or above for the semester.

Haggard, a freshman majoring in Biology (Pre-Veterinary Medicine), has attained the dean’s list for the Spring time. He is a 2018 graduate of Bluffton High School, and the son of Julien and Jeanna Haggard.

Small scale beekeeping

June 17 program hosted by Transition Bluffton

Join Transition Bluffton and Jon Tuttle for a field presentation on small scale beekeeping.  We will meet Tuesday, June 18, at 7 p.m. at Little Riley Creek, Jon and Amanda’s organic farm. 

The farm is located at 9255 Lugabill Road, about three miles south of Bluffton.  Tuttle will give a primer on beekeeping basics, including hive location and equipment.  

There will be time for questions and answers.  This will be a good demonstration of how we can respond to the declining bee population throughout the country.

Nature-themed activities at Quarry Farm Nature Preserve

 

DATE CHANGE: Spring Family Day  at The Quarry Farm Nature Preserve & Conservation Farm has been rescheduled as "Summer Family Day" on Saturday, July 20, 1 to 4 p.m., due to a forecast of rain and thunderstorms for the originally scheduled date, June 15.

Bring yourself, friends and family for an afternoon of fun in the gardens, woods and wetlands of during the 6th Annual Family Day on Saturday, July 20.

The Quarry Farm Nature Preserve and Conservation Farm, rural Pandora, has several nature-themed activities planned this summer.

Thursday evening meeting to hear AEP Ohio's local study

Upgrades and new power substation under consideration

AEP Ohio is considering improvements to increase electric reliability and support economic development in the Bluffton surrounding area.

The utility company will hold a public meeting from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, June 13, in the Bluffton middle school to inform residents of feasibility upgrades proposed in Allen and Hancock counties.

Pirate lingo

With the largest Pirate image in Bluffton staring down at them, Bluffton middle school boys get a word of encouragement from BHS varsity boys' basketball coach Todd Boblitt. A boys' basketball camp took place last week. Basketball, volleyball and football camps are underway this month.
