Gregg Luginbuhl art exhibit reception on Saturday

The Grace Albrecht Gallery in the Sauder Visual Arts Center on the campus of Bluffton University will host an exhibit by Gregg Luginbuhl ’71, Bluffton University emeritus professor of art, titled “Making My Way.”

Luginbuhl has exhibited pottery and ceramic sculpture in more than 200 regional and national exhibitions. He has received numerous awards, and his work is included in five Ohio Museum collections. 

The exhibit is a retrospective featuring work by the artist over a period of 50 years.

Funeral service Friday for David "Rico" Rodriguez, owner of Owlsburg tavern building

Editor's Note:  David "Rico" Rodriguez  was the owner of Owlsburg tavern, also known earlier as Van's Corner. The tavern was located on the corner of State Route 235 and Old U.S. 30, north of Ada. As announced in the Icon last fall, he had planned to open Cherico's Restaurant in that building.

David S. “Rico” Rodriguez, 47, died on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at his residence in Bluffton.

Grace Mennonite holds fundraising event for Mennonite Disaster Service Detroit

The Today's Disciples SS class of Grace Mennonite Church will hold a fundraising program about the Mennonite Disaster Service Detroit project Sunday, May 15, at 7 p.m. at Grace. This will be an informational program with pictures, video, and stories.

7th-8th grade boys' summer bball leagues forming at BFR

Bluffton Family Recreation announces registration is open for summer junior high boys’ basketball leagues, according to Joseph Beagle of BFR.

The leagues have separate divisions for 7th grade and for 8th grade. Seventh graders play Tuesday evenings from May 31 to June 28. Eighth graders play Monday evenings from May 30 to June 27. Exact times will be announced.

Teams will play back-to-back double headers each week. The cost per team is $300. All games are at BFR, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton.
