Former Bluffton resident engagement announcement

Former Bluffton resident, Karen Sue Rodabaugh, now a resident of Jacksonville, Florida, announces her engagement to Mark Allen Varner of Daytona Beach, Florida, previously of Marathon Oil Co in Findlay, Ohio.

Karen and Marks' parents are the late Dr. Franklin and Lois Rodabaugh of Bluffton and Mr. Robert and Nita Varner of Robinson, Illinois.

The wedding will take place at 3 p.m. on June 29, at the Forgiven Church in Macclenny, Florida, with a reception for friends and family to follow at the Glen Venue in Glen Saint Mary, Florida.

Child Development Center enrolling Toddlers

Bluffton Child Development Center is enrolling Toddlers," according to Francine Donathan, director.

"There are a few spots available.  Please call 419 358-8222 to sign your child up," she said. The Center is located at 325 County Line Road.

Bowling in downtown Bluffton

If you can find Stratton's Recreation Hall you might be able to bowl a game or two. This advertisement from the 1942 Bluffton College Ista says you can "tally in our alley."

Here's how to find the recreation hall. Look for the steps leading to a basement next to the Shannon Theatre on Main Street. Today it is the office for the United Auto Works (UAW) union, involving employees at Tower Automotive.

Hancock museum hosts Victorian tea June 22

The Hancock Historical Museum will host a Victorian Tea on the front porch of the historic Hull-Flater House on Saturday, June 22, from 11a.m. t 1 p.m. 

The event is for children ages 6-12 with an accompanying adult. The tea will highlight the time period of American Girl, Samantha. Guests are encouraged to bring their favorite doll and come dressed for the occasion. Participants will enjoy tea and treats served by the Victorian Ladies, while learning about proper etiquette for a Victorian tea party. And, 19th century lawn games and crafts will follow the tea.

Here are the events planned at the Bluffton Public Library for June and July.

Adults:
On June 18 at 10 a.m., adults are encouraged to attend Living with Hypertension.  Come find out how to best live with and manage hypertension.  Dr. Leah Eiden of Bluffton Primary Care will present information on the topic and there will be time for questions and discussion afterwards.
