Tennis team loses to Archbold 3-2

BLUFFTON - The Bluffton girls tennis team lost a 3-2 nailbiter to visiting Archbold Saturday afternoon.

The close defeat dropped the Lady Pirate record to 3-9 this season.

The Pirate girls won both doubles matches, but lost all three singles bouts. 

Bluffton seniors Julia Smallcombe and Olivia Barnes combined for a 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 victory at first doubles.

Pirate juniors Ellie Nickel and Libby Frazier teamed up to win 6-3, 6-4 at second doubles.

Taylor Schwab led the Pirates with 18 kills, 10 digs and 2 aces

BLUFFTON - The Bluffton volleyball tweam swept visiting Northwood 25-21, 25-18, 25-20 Saturday morning.

With their seventh consecutive victory, thw Lady Pirate spikers improved to 9-2 this season. 

Taylor Schwab led the Pirates with 18 kills, 10 digs and two aces. Kylie Stackhouse knocked down 13 kills and mustered up 10 digs as well. Meanwhile, Haelyn Bischoff added five kills.

Mittendorf, Basil, Spallinger score in 3-1 win at Ashland

Pirates move to 7-0-1 after Saturday's win

 ASHLAND - The visiting Bluffton boys soccer team defeated Ashland 3-1 Saturday afternoon at Community Soccer Park. 

The undefeated Pirates improved to 7-0-1 this season with the win.

The game's first goal was netted by Bluffton's Thad Mittendorf in just the second minute. Pirate Kaden Basil tallied in the 24th minute to advance the lead to 2-0.

Jude Spallinger netted the third Bluffton goal in the 33rd minute to put the visitors on top 3-0 at intermission.

Sam Derstine crossed the finish line 14 seconds behind him in 19th place

OTTAWA - The Bluffton boys cross country team finished fifth out of nine teams at the Ottawa-Glandorf Blue/Gold Invitational Saturday.

The Pirate boys competed in the blue division of the two-race, 19-team event at the Ottawa Memorial Park.

Senior Elijah Conley paced the Pirates by finishing 15th out of 95 runners in 18:28.5. Sophomore teammate Sam Derstine crossed the finish line 14 seconds behind him in 19th place.
