2020 photos identified forever

There's one thing for certain about 2020. In the future, when reviewing old photographs, we will always know when the photo was taken in 2020. There will be masks worn and signs on businesses listing the number of customers allowed in the store at one time. Here's one of those 2020 photo examples. It's Book ReViews on South Main Street.

Putnam County farmland auction Sept. 14

Siefker Real Estate and Auction Co., announce a public auction at 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 14, at the Columbus Grove Legion Hall, 405 Plum St., Columbus Grove.

The auction includes approximately 66 acres of farmland in three parcels in Pleasant Township, Putnam County. The owners are heirs of Agnes Hoffman. For additional details contact Aaron Siefker, 419-538-6184.

So, you think you know Bluffton? Where can you find this "Betty" mailbox? It's at Willow Ridge, part of the Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio, just off Augsburger Road.

Ohio secretary of state wants money to pay for postage on all absentee ballots

In 2016, 1.2 million Ohioans cast their absentee ballot by mail

Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose is requesting the authority from the Ohio Controlling Board to use funds from the Business Services Division fund within the Secretary’s office to pay for postage on all absentee ballots. 

In May, following the Ohio primary, Secretary of State Frank LaRose made a number of recommendations to the Ohio General Assembly that required legislative action to ensure a successful General Election.

All Bluffton students will learn remotely on Fridays

The following is the opening of a four-page letter from Greg Denecker, Bluffton school superintendent, concerning the opening of the 2020-21 school year.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to work toward the opening of our schools on Monday, Aug. 31, 2020!  

As you know, we are offering both in-person and remote learning platforms for our students this year and will strive to maintain continuity across these two modes of delivery.  

Our goal is always to provide high quality education; this is a point of pride in our district and in our community.
