Free events for community continue at BFR - something for everyone

Feb. 3 - Women's heart health celebration

The fourth week of BFR's Keeping Active Wellness Campaign includeS more free walking days, free fitness classes and recreation options and a special event for Healthy Hearts, according to Carole Enneking, director.

Here's the schedule:

Thursday, Feb. 2 will feature a free session of the Strength & Flexibility exercise class at 10 am. Saturday, Feb. 4 will feature a free session of Zumba Dance Fitness class at 9 am.

The Water Exercise classes held on Monday, Feb. 6 (9:30 am and 6 pm) will be offered without any charge.

In celebration of Wear Red for Women's Heart Health on Feb. 3, the indoor track will be decorated in red. The general public is encouraged to stop by BFR and walk in support of Fighting Heart Disease in Women. Health information and donation sheets will be available from 5:30 am-9 pm that day.

Free use of the indoor track is available to the public on Thursday,Feb. 2, Friday, Feb. 3, Sunday, Feb. 4, Tuesday, Feb. 7 and Thursday, Feb. 9.

The track is available for use by walkers and runners during all building hours. Parents with Strollers are welcome, too.

Tuesday, Feb. 7 will feature a demonstration on "Walking with Weights."

Individuals can add to their cardiovascular workout by using dumbbell
exercises while walking. Certified Trainer, Jessica Ladd will lead
participants in a 30-minute exercise session on the BFR track.

On Wednesday, Feb. 8, parents with young children are invited to a free session of Open Play from 11 a.m. to noon. While the children play, parents/care givers will be offered information about healthy eating for children.

Free recreation will be featured this week starting with a free basketball
session for women on Wednesday, Feb. 1 from 9-10 p.m.

Wednesday, Feb. 8, includes a free session of indoor soccer play for middle school and high school players. The open soccer session will be held from 3:30-5 pm. A free session of drop-in volleyball will be offered on Thursday, Feb. 9, from 8-10 p.m.

Keeping Active is a six-week health promotion offered as a community service by BFR Sports & Fitness. The calendar of events promotes exercise and healthy eating.
