Ruth Ann Bormuth helped start the Gathering Basket herb society

Ruth Ann (von Stein) Bormuth, 90, of Rawson died at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014 at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center, Arlington. She was born on April 2, 1923, to the late Ivan and Maude (Marquart) von Stein, Sr. in Eagle Twp., Hancock County. She married Herbert John Bormuth on Jan. 11, 1942, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 2013.

Mother Nature on the golf course

Several Icon viewers have sent us photos similiar to this one taken by Garry Crawford. In his message to us he states: "Mother nature rolled this on the golf course." Dawn King also sent photos. She calls these "snow rollers" and adds that they are more common in hilly areas, but the precise nature of the conditions required makes them a very rare phenomenon."

Get ready for Bluffton's first-ever "cash mob" Wednesday from 3:30-5:30 p.m.

Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce wants get you out of the house to do some shopping locally - on Wednesday.

Focusing on the hours of 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., perhaps the warmest part of the day, Bluffton holds its first-ever "cash mob." Although it's not a cash mob in the traditional big city sense, it will offers an interesting assortment of specials in several downtown businesses. It is the chamber's plan to offer one cash mob per month in 2014.

Daniel Mushangwe and Appiah Adubofour, two sophomore international students attending Bluffton University, recently sat down and discussed how their Bluffton lives compared to their lives in Africa.

Human trafficking survivor shares her story at Bluffton University

Barbara Freeman is a victim of human trafficking, she told a Bluffton University audience Jan. 23. And, after decades of drug abuse and prostitution, she dedicated her life to rescuing others from sexual exploitation.

Freeman, 42, is drug and alcohol free today. She serves as a motivational speaker, hoping to inspire those affected by sex trafficking to seek help.

“It’s only one hit away, one drink away, to end up at the wrong place at the wrong time,” she said during a Bluffton chapel service.
