Bluffton's DeAndre Nassar heading to NCAA nationals

Cleveland State wrestling standout is ranked nationally

Bluffton High School outstanding student athlete DeAndre Nassar will compete in this month’s Division I NCAA wrestling national championships in St. Louis March 18-20.

The Cleveland State University sophomore, (184) is one of three Vikings to qualify for the tournament.

Ohio, like the rest of the nation has seen a recent small spike in the number of COVID-19 cases. While this is disappointing since the numbers had being going down, there is hope with a third COVID-19 vaccine getting Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) this week.

The vaccines are working and more vaccines to the public means more protection from this pandemic.

Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness. You have probably heard of anxiety or know somebody that has anxiety. Everyone feels anxious, especially during stressful situations, but what is the distinction between having anxiety and not having anxiety?  

Somebody with anxiety has intense feelings of fear and distress preventing them from being able to do everyday tasks. People without anxiety only feel this way when they are in a particularly stressful situation.

Free mobile clinic at library Friday AM

Service provided by ONU HealthWise Pharmacy

Ohio Northern University’s Healthwise free mobile clinic returns to the Bluffton Public Library from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday. The mobile clinic will also return here on Friday,  March 26, at the same time.

All services are provided by staff members with the Ohio Northern University Healthwise program. The Mobile Health Clinic bus is usually parked in front of the library on Main Street during visits.

University basketball seasons end

Women's and men's teams lose in close tournament matches

Bluffton University’s men’s and women’s basketball season ended in squeakers last night. Game recaps follow:

Women’s game
The Bluffton University women's basketball team put their season on the line as they hosted the Anderson University Ravens in the quarter-final round of the HCAC postseason tournament on Wednesday, March 3.

Committee called to order

After wintering anywhere from Louisiana to Central America, Bluffton turkey vultures returned right on time this year on March 3. This group – we counted 26 birds – is called a committee, when roosting in trees. This committee stayed overnight in the Little Riley Creek woods  between Campus Drive and the old college baseball diamond. When circling in the air stream above Bluffton, they are called a kettle.
