Bentley pathway ribbon cut virtually on Sept. 14

27 volunteers will participate Sept. 14-20 in pedestrian-biker count

With the extended Bentley Road pathway construction on schedule, the Bluffton Pedestrian and Bike Pathway board will hold a virtual ribbon cutting at 4 p.m., Monday, Sept. 14, according to Richard Ramseyer, board chair.

Details on how to watch the ribbon cutting will be announced soon. Longtime pathway supporters John and Jenny Pilarowski will cut the ribbon officially opening the pathway.

Three from Bluffton on Rhodes summer dean's list

Rhodes State College, Lima, announced its 2020 summer dean’s list. To be eligible, students need to have earned a 3.5 grade point average or higher and complete at least six credit hours.

Trinity Lutheran, Jenera, has new fall schedule

New teachers announced at Trinity Lutheran School

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 301 N. Main St., Jenera, has a new fall schedule. 

In-person Sunday services are at 8 and 10:30 a.m. with Bible classes for teens and adults at 9:20 a.m.

There will be no in-person Sunday School for children, but beginning Sunday, Sept. 13, Bible lessons, taught by experienced teachers, are available free via YouTube.  The lessons begin with creation. 

To access these lessons, visit nph.net/ss-at-home. The videos for Pre-K through grade 4 are about 12 minutes long. The videos for grades 5-8 are about 25 minutes long.

41 degree temperature range experienced in August

August temperature’s experienced a 41-degree range, according to Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer.

The month’s high reading of 92 degrees was on Aug. 25 and 27. The low was 51 degrees on Aug. 5.

Other August weather stats follow:
August 2020 average temperature 72.2 degrees
Normal August average temperature 72.1 degrees

August 2020 rainfall 2.97 inches
Normal August average rainfall 3.28 inches

“What does it mean to be happy? Do we have a right to be happy? Do I deserve to be happy?”

Dr. Jackie Wyse-Rhodes, assistant professor of religion and campus pastor at Bluffton University, posed these questions during her Aug. 25 Forum presentation, “Deserving Happiness: A Wisdom Conversation.”
