Drooling over great designs

FROM ADA ICON - One of the Icon's favorite Ada Facebooks is Fine Touch Furniture and Upholstery. Like the song goes, the Garvers seem to put new tunes on old pianos. Only the pianos in this case are chairs and sofas and other furniture. The two top photos represent a before and after. The bottom photos show front and back of one of their recent projects.

Health order will require K-12 children wear face coverings in school

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine provided the following updates on the status of the state's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

MASKS IN SCHOOLS
Governor DeWine announced that the Ohio Department of Health will issue a health order requiring that K-12 children wear face coverings while at school. The new mandate comes after the Ohio Children's Hospital Association and American Academy of Pediatrics Ohio Chapter issued a joint letter  recommending widespread use of masks in schools with the following exceptions: 

• Children under the age of 2 years old

Committee now in session

That's correct. It's a committee of vultures. Or, if you'd rather, a kettle or wake of vultures. Technically a kettle refers to the birds in flight. The wake is during lunch. The committee meeting is what we are watching in this photo taken by Dave Benroth. Bluffton is home to this committee.

It's U6 soccer and 3rd-4th grade volleyball time

BFR accepting registrations until Aug. 17

Bluffton Family Recreation is now accepting registrations for its fall U6 soccer leagues, and its third and fourth grade developmental volleyball leagues, according to Amy Byers, BFR sports coordinator. 

Registration deadline for both is Monday, Aug. 17. Click here to register.

“BFR is working hard to stay up to date with the current protocols to provide a safe opportunity for young athletes to participate in their favorite sports,” Byers added.
