Baldwin-Wallace put together five hits in the fifth inning en route to the only three runs the Jackets scored in a 3-1 victory over the Beavers on Thursday, March 8, 2012. The Bluffton University baseball team slipped to 2-6 overall, while B-W improved to 7-2 on the season.

Five straight one-out singles by Baldwin-Wallace added up to three runs for the home team in the fifth inning. Miles Richardson (Granville/Newark Catholic) led off the top of the sixth with a single.

A walk to Tyler Wright (Troy) followed by a fielder's choice moved Richardson to third base. Senior Nick Broyles (Toledo/Whitmer) picked him up with a base knock, but the Beavers were limited to just one hit over the final three innings as B-W made its 3-1 lead stand up for the victory.

Brad Schlabach (Fredericksburg/Hiland) held a potent Yellow Jacket lineup to three runs on nine hits in five innings of work. Fellow freshman Halen Core (Reynoldsburg) shut down B-W over the final three frames, fanning four and allowing just one hit. Richardson finished with two hits for the Beavers who tallied six safeties in the setback.

Bluffton finishes its 2012 Florida trip with two games on Friday, March 9. The first contest with Muskingum is slated for 10 a.m.
