Busy weekend for Pirate wrestlers

BLUFFTON - The Pirate varsity wrestling squad hosted the six-team Bluffton Duals Tournament Saturday.

Celina, St. Marys and Columbus Grove posted identical records of 4-1 in the event. 

St. Marys was declared the tournament winner after the tie-breaker. The Roughriders lost by only one point to Grove, and beat Celina by 15.

Bluffton registered a 1-4 record in the dual meet competition as they defeated Kenton for their lone win.

Trevor Hisey of St. Marys was named the Most Valuable Wrestler of the tournament.

If you've noticed the attractive green and white sign in the Citizens National Bank window, now you know where it came from. On the face of the one-time CNB clock, it witnessed every goings-on of Main Street from the departure of the interurban, Dillinger's visit, the end of State Route 25 through town, and every parade in Bluffton from 1920 to about 1969.

Sharon Marshall was retired from Findlex/Nissin Brake

She was a 1971 Bluffton High School graduate

Sharon Joyce Marshall, 67, died Dec. 31, 2020, at her residence. Sharon was born Sept. 3, 1953, in Bluffton to the late William and Katherine (Steegman) Parkins. In 1978 she married Gary Marshall who preceded her in death on May 19, 2017.

Sharon graduated from Bluffton High School in 1971. She worked and retired from Findlex/Nissin Brake in Findlay. Sharon was an avid baker, loved cooking trying new recipes and sharing recipes.

Janet Kohli memorial service at a later date

Janet C. Kohli, 83, of Pandora died Jan. 4, 2021, at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay.  A private burial will take place in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Pandora with a memorial service at a later date.  Arrangements have been entrusted with Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.

Meet Celia Smith, BHS December student of the month

Following high school she may pursue nursing or social work

Celia Smith, a senior, is the December Bluffton High School student of the month.

She is involved in many activities including Drama Club, swim team, Latin Club, SADD, 4-H, Gatekeepers and is an SOS tutor after school.

She is in the National Honor Society and has received academic awards three times and  also received the academic scholar award.

She is a member of the volleyball team and the Bluffton swim club. She is employed at Arby's in Bluffton and in her spare time she enjoys singing, volunteering, drawing, painting, reading and writing.
