Bluffton boys blast McComb

Trey Boblitt led all scorers with 21 points as he nailed 6 of the team's 11 triples

BLUFFTON - Homestanding Bluffton fired in 51 points over the middle quarters to blow out McComb 79-55 in a non-league boys basketball makeup game Tuesday night. 

Bluffton led 20-12 after the first period as five players scored, including three triples. But the Pirates blew it open with a 23-11 second stanza to lead by 20 at intermission. Nic Essinger netted four baskets in the quarter.

I was just another face in the crowd at Bluffton High School. I played baseball and for one season, football.

I was paddled following a high school assembly, either as a sophomore or junior. Actually, the entire row was paddled.

Jefferson Street Phase II project back on track

Schedule set for bid opening and contract awarding

On Monday, Bluffton council members learned the rebidding of Jefferson Street Phase II project's bid opening is at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 5. And, the notice of bid award signing will be Thursday, March 4. 

Full executed contracts should be completed on or prior to April 6. Jesse Blackburn, village administrator, told council that additional funding for the project has been applied for through the Ohio Water Development Authority.

A funding decision for that request should be made by the end of the January.

Police department achieves full compliance certification

Through Ohio Collaborative Law Enforcement Agency

Bluffton’s police department has achieved a certification of full compliance through the Ohio Collaborative Law Enforcement Agency, according to Ryan Burkholder, police chief.

• The certification demonstrations efforts of the department to engage in the community and be transparent in operations.

• It shows the department enacts sound procedures and trains officers in common sense policies.

• The goal of certification is to ensure the department delivers superior law enforcement services to community.
