University launches $26 million Simply Innovate Campaign

Bluffton University today announced a $1 million gift from Greg and Donna Wannemacher during the launch of Simply Innovate, the Campaign for Bluffton University.
Greg Wannemacher is a university trustee and the co-chair of the Simply Innovate campaign. He graduated from Bluffton in 1977 with a degree in business and played football during his years on campus; Donna graduated from Bluffton in 1978 with an art degree. Greg Wannemacher is chairman of Wannemacher Total Logistics in Lima.
During 8 and 10:30 a.m. services at Trinity Lutheran Church

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jenera, will observe the annual Shipwreck Remembrance on Sunday, Sept. 18.
The services, at 8 and 10:30 a.m. recalls the passengers on the “Famous Dove” when it was shipwrecked off the east coast of the United States on Sept.17, 1831. Many of the passengers coming from Germany were the founders of Trinity.
During a storm, the passengers prayed and sang hymns while on the wrecked ship and when they safely reached land, they promised to observe Sept. 17 in thanks to God, to the third and fourth generations, this being the 185th year.
Sept. 27 university forum in Stutzman Lecture Hall

Willi Hugo Perez, president of Latin American Anabaptist Seminary, will present his speech titled “Mennonite Peacemaking in Central America” during Forum at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27, in Centennial’s Stutzman Lecture Hall.

Saturday's rain reached 1.93 inches in Pandora, according to Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer. Until Wednesday, it was the only rain measured in September.

The Bluffton High School boys' soccer team fielded 6 different scorers against the Lincolnview Lancers at Lincolnview earlier this week. Bluffton held the Lancers to one shot on goal while taking 17 shots on goal themselves.
BHS won 6-0.
Scores were made by Trevor Bunch at 3 minutes; Douglas Nester scored at the 8:30 minute; and Eli Bourassa netted a goal at 9:00 minutes. All of the first three goals were assists by Luke Young.
