According to the National Institute of Health Statistics, lower back pain is the most common type of pain, affecting 8 out of every 10 adults during their lifetime. These numbers show the importance of learning to prevent back injuries so that you can stay healthy.

Hidden drugs in “brain-boosting” supplements

Researchers find five unapproved drugs in cognitive enhancement supplements

A quick look at any store's supplement section will turn up plenty of supplements claiming to boost your brain power. But new research found that these supplements may contain unapproved drugs that could pose health risks.

A new study found that over-the-counter (OTC) cognitive enhancement supplements may contain drugs that have not been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and are not listed on the label.

Closures to impact intersections

At Cool Road and Mayberry Road at U.S. 30

The Allen County Commissioners approved a petition on Nov. 12 by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) to close access from Cool Road on both the north and south sides of U.S. 30, and Mayberry Road on the south side only at U.S. 30.

The closures are just one part of a safety project, which includes the construction of a restricted crossing U-turn (RCUT) at U.S. 30 and Thayer Road.

Brake lock-up probable cause of semi fire

No one injured in truck fire that caught the attention of village residents last night

Jon Kinn, Bluffton fire chief, updated the Icon on details of last night’s semi-truck fire that took place in the Diamond Manufacturing parking lot on Jefferson Street.

The driver of the semi was on Interstate 75 when he was alerted by another semi driver that his rear wheels were smoking. That is often an indication that the trailer is experiencing a brake lock-up.

Kinn said that when the driver realized the problem he pulled off the interstate onto State Route 103.
