Daren Lee named acting chief operating officer of MHCO

He joined the senior living community as director of Maple Crest in 2006

Daren Lee was recently named acting chief operating officer of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio, according to Elizabeth Kelly, MHCO board chair.

On Aug. 1, Lee moved into a dual role of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio Team Leader and Director of Maple Crest and Independent Living by the Board of Directors. 

During his time in this role, he has coordinated leadership team meetings, facilitated continued collaboration between campuses, and explored opportunities to better align service areas across the MHCO continuum of care.

Lady Pirates dominate Lancers

BHS improves to 9-6 overall (3-2 NWC) with their 3rd consecutive victory.

MIDDLE POINT - Visiting Bluffton dominated the final three quarters to beat Lincolnview 53-38 in a Northwest Conference girls basketball contest Thursday night.

The Lady Pirates trailed 16-15 after a high-scoring first period. But they outscored the Lady Lancers 26-16 over the middle quarters to seize a 41-32 advantage heading to the final stanza.

The Pirate girls then doubled up Lincolnview 12-6 in the fourth quarter to grab the victory going away. The visitors outscored the Lancers 38-22 over the final 24 minutes.

Village of Bluffton announces the followin meetings in January.  All meetings will be held via Zoom.

• Planning Commission - Wednesday, 1/20 at 4 p.m., third floor of  Town Hall

Thelma Ridenhour was retired from Triplett

Thelma Elizabeth Ridenour, 94, died Jan. 14, 2021, at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay.  Thelma was born Aug. 5, 1926, in Continental, Ohio, to the late Orville and Fannie (Prowant) Etter. On March 5, 1945, she married Harold Ridenour who preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 2009.  She later married Marvin Wolford and he survives in Mt. Cory.

Icon talks with Myron Lewis, Blanchard Valley Health System's new president and CEO

Blanchard Valley Heath System’s new president and CEO, Myron Lewis’s first taste of Bluffton was a container of Shirley’s Popcorn.

“I’ve visited Bluffton and was struck by the attractive downtown,” he said, adding that his daughter purchased a giant container of Shirley’s Popcorn for him as a Christmas present – sadly, the container is empty he admitted.

The new president and chief executive officer of BVHS talked via Zoom with the Icon earlier this week. He replaces Scott Malaney who has retired.
