Discovery Day, cars and coffee, farmers market on Saturday

Several businesses have special offers, listed below

Bluffton merchants are hosting the second Discovery Day of the summer on Saturday, Aug. 22. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., more than a dozen shops will have special offers and sales.

“Our downtown merchants are very collaborative,” says Paula Scott, CEO of the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce. “They have coordinated Discovery Days to showcase our shops and provide an extra special day for shoppers, including Bluffton University students who have just returned to town."

Monday is final day for Suter's Produce red barn

The sweet corn season is ending. Monday is the final day of Suter's Produce red barn at Circle K, State Route 103, Bluffton.

The red barn's final schedule is:
• Friday, Aug. 21
• Saturday, Aug. 22
• Monday, Aug. 24

Watch for details of Suter's corn maze, this year celebrating the 400th anniversay of the Pilgrim's journey on the Mayflower. The corn maze opens Saturday, Sept. 12. The Icon will have all the details soon.

Bluffton High School students schedules are ready. Students may pick them up at the high school, via the Jackson Street door, today or Monday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Alice Bucher celebrates birthday 104

She could be the oldest living Triplett retiree

She could be the oldest living Triplett retiree.

Long-time Ada resident, Alice Bucher, now living at Vancrest of Ada, celebrated her 104th birthday on Aug. 14.

Mrs. Bucher was an employee at Triplett Corp., Bluffton, for 22 years, and may be the oldest living Triplett retiree.

She and her husband, Dale, had three children, two boys and one girl. Dale  was the Ada scoutmaster for many years and he also served on several community boards and organizations in Ada. He died in 1999.
