Babies born at Bluffton Hospital in December

Here's the list of babies born at Bluffton Hospital, reported to the Icon, over the holiday period. 

Nov. 30 - Bryson Howard, son of Zak and Amber Beltz, Roundhead.

Dec. 5 - Lux Antonio, son of Tony and Sydney Schroeder, Ottawa.

Dec. 7 - Lena Florence, daughter of Justin and Melissa Ricker, Columbus Grove.

Dec. 9 - Elizabeth Jane, daughter of Daniel and Barbara Kirk, Mount Cory.

Dec. 9 - Olive Elsie, daughter of Victor Lomeli and Mercedes Young, Leipsic.

Dec. 9 - Landry James, son of James Robinson and Dawnell Laymon, Forest.

2019 Bluffton Hospital baby names

First names: Amelia, Barrett and Waylan; middle names: Grace, Lynn, Marie and James, Matthew and Robert

Here are the most popular baby names of 2019, born at Bluffton Hospital this year.  Of the nearly 100 reported to the Icon, the top names were Amelia for a girl, and Barrett or Waylan, for a boy.

Of the 45 girls reported born at Bluffton Hospital, only two were named the same name: Amelia. All other baby girls were christened with unique names.

Of the 48 boys reported born at Bluffton Hospital this year, only four shared names: two were named Barrett and two were named Waylan.

Cats at the library

Patrons of the Bluffton Public Library will notice that cats have moved in this month. The cats arrived in artistic drawing from artist L. Ann Hollingsworth. The style is a fusion of art nouveau/pop styles in colored pencil, marker and metallic acrylics with crystal embellishments.

School in session and January full of activities

Here's a sampling of January events at BHS

School is back in session and January is full of activites. Here’s some of the event in January on the Bluffton High School website:

Drama Club spring auditions: Students interested in trying out for the spring play need to pick up information outside of the choir room this week. Audition  are Monday Jan. 13, at 5:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 7 p.m. 

Red Cross bood drive: A Red Cross bood drive is Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the high school gym.

Amy Gallant Linaberry was a 1990 BHS graduate

Was volunteer chair for "Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk" in Dayton

Amy J. Gallant Linaberry, 48 of Kettering, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020,at her home after a courageous eight year battle with breast cancer. She was born Oct. 2, 1971 in Bluffton, Ohio, to Darryl and Marcia (Boutwell) Gallant. Amy married Matthew Linaberry on Oct. 20, 2012, in Kettering.

Amy graduated from Bluffton High School in 1990. She graduated from Lima Technical College in 1993 with a degree in Early Education and graduated in 2006 from Wright State University with a degree in Social Work.

Remembering Glennys: ‘Everyone needs to find a way to serve’  

While a generation of Et Cetera Shop shoppers will remember Glennys Henry as a long-time volunteer, an earlier generation of Bluffton youth, now adults, will remember her as an elementary teacher.

She died Jan. 4, just shy of her 95th birthday. CLICK HERE for Glennys' obituary.

Glennys was passionate about helping those in need and giving of her time as often as possible, regardless of the cause.
