Hanco EMS Chief Rob Martin receives 2019 CARES Award

Rob Martin, the chief and director of Hanco EMS, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS), is the recipient of the Ohio Association of Community Behavioral Health Authorities’ (OACBHA) 2019 CARES Award.

This award is given annually to first responders and frontline workers who go above and beyond in helping individuals, families and their communities deal with the adverse effects of Ohio’s opiate epidemic.

Make a terrarium at the library

This program is at 1 p.m., Thursday, June 6, at the Bluffton Public Library, for 6th to 12th graders.

Mt. Victory to host wine and chocolate walk June 14

The village of Mt. Victory, hosts a wine and chocolate walk from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 14.

Mt. Victory merchants will offer treats while its shops are open for the walk.

Three of local wineries will be on site pouring and selling bottles of wine (Bokes Creek Winery, Rose Acres, and Bear Vine Winery). 

New this year, visitors may purchase a VIP ticket (only 30 available) and get a one hour open air (weather permitting) paint and sip experience with Artist Marilyn Reed.

11th annual Ada truck pull Friday evening

Hardin County Pullers wil turn some dirt

FROM ADA ICON - The 11th annual Ada War Memorial truck pulls is set for 7 p.m., Friday, June 7, at the Ada park. Gates open at 3 p.m. and registration starts at 5 p.m. A rain date is 6 p.m., Saturday, June 8.

The Yoder shuffle

Alan Yoder concentrates on his game during a Bluffton Shuffleboard Club doubles event on Monday. This summer sevenl tournaments are planned at the Bluffton courts located at the Buckeye. Persons interesting in learning shuffleboard may attend club sessions Mondays and Saturdays at 10 a.m. and Thursdays at 4 p.m.

Meet Bluffton's new middle school principal

Josh Kauffman was a teacher and AD at Pandora-Gilboa from 2012-14

Josh Kauffman, a teacher and athletic director at Pandora-Gilboa from 2012 to 2014, accepted a two-year contract as the new principal of Bluffton Middle School, according to Greg Denecker, Bluffton superintendent.

Currently middle school principal at Piqua City Schools – a position he served for the past three years – Kauffman will begin his position here on Aug. 1. His salary at Bluffton is $89,000.
